What is holistic success? You may have heard that term a lot more recently as people are coming to realize that success and balance go hand-in-hand. Here at Achieve, we believe in holistic success. Success is not just found in career and finance, but rather in all aspects of life. If one area is lacking, then all others will suffer as well. We believe there are five areas that lead to holistic success: Spiritual, Wellness, Relational, Career, and Financial. These are all equally important in finding success and feeling fulfilled.
Your stress level at work can affect your home life and vice-versa. A struggling relationship with your boss or spouse can have a direct correlation with work performance and/or your wellness. As such, it is important to set goals in the five holistic life areas. When we are intentional in all five, we will be able to find balance and live true to our personal values, which are critical to our happiness.
1. Spiritual
Sense of purpose and/or faith journey.
We are all here on this earth for a reason. Mark Twain said, “the 2 most important days in your life are; the day you were born and the day you find out why”. Figure out why you are here.
2. Wellness
Physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
You cannot do anything if you are not healthy. Many times we tend to put our health on the back burner and prioritize other things. However, not prioritizing your health means that you are actually sacrificing success. Health is also holistic – we need to take care of our mental and emotional health as well as physical.
3. Relational
Relationships with people who matter the most.
As humans, we are social beings. This has become more evident over the past 2 years with us being forced to isolate. Success happens in community.
4. Career
Passion aligned with your personal values.
If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life – Mark Anthony. Figuring out your passions and personal core values and getting them in alignment is vital to doing work that is fulfilling and feeds the soul.
5. Financial
The ability to increase income and/or reduce debt.
Typically when we think of success we think about money. Making money can’t be at the expense of all the other areas of our life. Having a financial plan is vital. Understanding your goals can then help you plan your finances in a smart and intentional way.
“The consistency in your person from home to work is vitally important so that you are in total balance at all times. Being out of balance means that your true self will start to be confused with what you pretend to be.”
